sevendayweekender – Barcelona are closing in on a deal to sign Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus for £8.6 million. The proposed transfer is worth approximately €10 million and is reportedly at an advanced stage.
Jesus is also expected to travel for a medical on Monday. The 29-year-old Brazil international is preparing to join Barcelona after four years with Arsenal.

Napoli had previously shown interest in signing the striker. However, Barcelona have emerged as his expected destination as the transfer deadline approaches.
Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022. He arrived in north London after establishing himself as an important forward during his time at City.
Since joining the Gunners, Jesus has made 123 appearances across competitions. He has scored 32 goals and provided 22 assists during that period.
His overall contribution includes both goals and creative involvement in Arsenal’s attacking play. However, his future at the club has now become increasingly uncertain with Barcelona advancing their interest.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also provided an indication of Jesus’ situation ahead of the proposed move. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Arteta confirmed that the striker was not training with the squad.
Arsenal were preparing to face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday. The match was scheduled to kick off at 20:00 BST.
When asked whether Jesus’ absence from training meant he was leaving Arsenal, Arteta gave a brief response. “Personal situations, whatever they are, I think it’s clear,” the manager said.
Gabriel Jesus Set to Become Barcelona’s Third Premier League Signing
A move to Barcelona would give Jesus a new challenge after his four-year spell with Arsenal. He would also return to Spain after previously playing for clubs outside the country.
Barcelona are looking to strengthen their squad with the addition of the experienced Brazil international. Jesus would bring significant Premier League experience and a proven record of contributing goals and assists.
His arrival would also continue Barcelona’s recruitment from English football during the current summer window. Jesus is set to become the club’s third signing from a Premier League side.
Barcelona have already brought in Anthony Gordon from Newcastle. They have also completed the signing of Rodri from Manchester City.
The potential arrival of Jesus would therefore add another player with extensive Premier League experience to Barcelona’s squad. His previous experience at Manchester City and Arsenal would provide him with familiarity with high-level European football.
Jesus spent five years with Manchester City before moving to Arsenal in 2022. His career in England has included regular involvement in domestic and European competitions.
At Arsenal, he recorded 32 goals and 22 assists from 123 appearances. Those numbers underline his ability to contribute beyond simply scoring goals.
Barcelona’s proposed £8.6 million fee would represent a relatively modest investment for an experienced international forward. The club nevertheless still needs to complete the final stages of the agreement.
The medical scheduled for Monday represents another important step in the process. The transfer is expected to be completed before Tuesday’s deadline if the remaining details are resolved.

Napoli’s previous interest did not prevent Barcelona from moving into a strong position for the striker. Jesus is now expected to continue his career at last season’s Spanish league champions.
