Preston Complete Loan Move for Jusef Erabi From Genk
Erabi joined Belgian side Genk from Swedish club Hammarby in September 2025. After less than a year in Belgium, he will continue his development in England with Preston North End.
The loan agreement gives Preston the opportunity to assess the striker throughout the season before deciding whether to activate the permanent transfer option. The arrangement provides flexibility for both clubs while allowing Erabi to gain regular first-team experience.
Speaking after completing the move, Erabi said he was eager to begin the next stage of his career at Deepdale. He revealed that conversations with club staff and his impressions of Preston’s style of play convinced him to join.
“I’ve been speaking to the staff and the people around the club and it looks amazing,” Erabi told the club’s official website.
“When I saw the club and how they play, I was impressed, I had a good feeling and I really wanted to get it done as fast as I could.”
The Sweden-born forward, who is of Afghan descent, now prepares for his first experience in English football. Preston hope his arrival will increase competition among the club’s attacking players ahead of the Championship campaign.
Paul Heckingbottom Praises Striker’s Technical Ability
Manager Paul Heckingbottom welcomed Erabi as another important addition during the summer transfer window. The Preston boss believes the striker possesses the qualities needed to adapt successfully to English football.
Heckingbottom highlighted Erabi’s technical ability and well-rounded playing style after confirming the signing. He also praised the forward’s physical attributes and movement both with and without the ball.
“Jusef is a good technical all-round striker,” Heckingbottom said.
“He’s physically really good and likes to make runs in behind. But is also strong enough to hold the ball up.”
The Preston manager also emphasized the club’s commitment to helping Erabi develop throughout the season. He believes providing the right environment will allow the striker to demonstrate his full potential.
“We will work really hard to give him the best platform to go out and show what he can do,” Heckingbottom added.
Erabi’s combination of pace, strength, and technical ability gives Preston another option across the attacking line. His versatility could allow him to operate in different forward roles depending on the team’s tactical approach.
As Preston’s third signing of the summer, Erabi represents another step in the club’s preparations for the new Championship season. If he adapts successfully to English football, the option to complete a permanent transfer could become an attractive opportunity for Preston once the loan spell concludes.
