The 23-year-old began his professional career with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark before moving to Brighton in 2022. Brighton then loaned him to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise for the 2022–23 season. Last season, he made 29 Premier League appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

In his first interview with Sunderland’s club media, Adingra shared his enthusiasm for the new chapter. “It’s a pleasure to be here, and I cannot wait to get started,” he said. He praised the club’s vision and revealed that their strong interest in him made his decision clear.

Adingra also emphasized the significance of remaining in the Premier League. “Playing in the Premier League has been a dream since I was a kid,” he said. Sunderland’s return to the top flight after a seven-year absence adds further weight to his decision. The winger’s arrival strengthens Sunderland’s attacking options as they prepare for the 2025–26 Premier League season. Head coach Michael Beale has already brought in several exciting players this window, signaling the club’s serious intent to compete.

At just 23, his best years are ahead of him, and Sunderland sees him as a key part of their future. His signing represents a statement of intent as the club re-establishes itself in England’s top tier.

Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman praised Adingra’s qualities and said he fits the club’s long-term strategy. “We are building something ambitious, and Simon adds top-level experience and international quality,” he noted. Adingra joins Enzo Le Fée, Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, and Chemsdine Talbi in Sunderland’s revamped squad. This flurry of signings reflects a clear plan to blend youth, talent, and top-flight experience.

Sunderland will now focus on pre-season preparations and building chemistry among new arrivals. The club is eager to make a strong impression in its first Premier League campaign since the 2016–17 season. With Adingra onboard, fans have every reason to be optimistic about what lies ahead.
